J had earned the most 'house' points (again), and was being rewarded with a day trip to Harry Potter World ( link here ) just outside of London. I did wonder if he would gain anything from the trip, as he isn't interested in films, and hasn't been exposed to anything within the Harry Potter genre ( he isn't interested in the books either).
The trip occurred during a very hot and humid dry spell, and as it was a whole day out (returning around 8pm), I packed him off with two large water bottles, extra food, and deodorant ( teenager + humidity! ).
Upon collection in the evening, he was happy and chatty ( repeating "goodbye London" over and over again), and was yawning away. In the morning, he appeared to be tired still, and when he got home from school, he flumped onto his bed, and chilled until bedtime. It was the first time in a long time that he was so tired from an excursion - he usually bounds around with infinite energy every single day, no matter what activities he has participated in. The heat was most definitely a factor in this I would say.
I received a few photos from the day, and, true to my Boy, he looked nonplussed in most of them, especially in the CGI image of him superimposed onto a scene. I find these endearing, as it's just J and his natural self - not fake or forced. There was one photo of him sitting at a wooden bench, holding a wooden cup, and he had his genuine smile on display, but he wasn't aware (probably) of a camera being pointed at him, and so he was captured being his usual, happy self.
I was incredibly proud that J had earned so many 'points' from his good behaviour and hard work. He is proof that despite a disability, he still strives to be and do his best.
